In this era of green, environment friendly products there is still a need for disposable items. This week I am going to highlight Disposable Connectors and why we need them.
The main application for disposable products is in the medical industry where, specifically, operating theatres are becoming increasingly more technology driven.
Technology in the operating theatre is just part of the dramatic leap of innovation we have seen over recent decades, however this has created it’s own problems with infection-causing bacteria. All of this new equipment must be kept clean and sterile.
This is where innovation steps in. Disposable low cost connectors enable the design engineer to create products that have a once use purpose. An example of this is a device with a probe where the probe is designed for one use only, however it needs to connect to the more expensive control device.
The solution is to use a disposable interconnection system within the sterile theatre area. This is by no means the only application, others being military and security but I like to focus on the medical applications.
Also this does not fit with our preferred ideal of environmentally friendly developments, but I am sure we can all agree there must be some exceptions.
