New M12 Push-Pull Connector Standard

Molex, Phoenix Contact, Murrelektronik, and Binder are driving the standardization of a non-proprietary push-pull connection system.

M12 Connectors are traditionally screw connectors however the new standard paves the way for push-pull interlocks.  This is going to open up the M12 connector to many new markets such as products designed for harsh ambient environments.

The interlock mechanism is based on the “Brad® Ultra-Lock®” technology in accordance with proprietary Molex specifications. Independent of any specific manufacturer, this ensures physical compatibility of the M12 push-pull connectors.

We are fans of M12 connectors because they are simple, cost effective and reliable.  So far the M12 connector is yet to truly break out of industrial markets but hopefully this will enable designers to take another look at M12 connectors as viable to other higher cost circular connectors.
