IX Connector

Introducing the ix Industrial Ethernet Connector!

New products are launched all the time, some last the test of time others fall by the waysideix_img_200_03 as is the way with many new innovations in the fast paced world of electronics.

The concept was first announced back in August 2016 with very little detail about how the connector system would look but now we have all the info!  The ix Industrial™ socket t size is reduced by 70% compared to the existing RJ45 modular connectors, and offers ideal space saving cabling for applications with miniaturized requirements. The mass production is planned to start on April 2017.

The technical details say “With performance to Cat. 6A, the ix Industrial™ interface is configured for 1 / 10 Gbit/s Ethernet and is therefore future-proof. High current load capacity accommodates the PoE (Power-over-Ethernet) applications of today and tomorrow. The ix_img_400combination of high-speed data transmission and power in one interface, provides ideal solutions for space saving requirements”.

In compliance with IEC/PAS 61076-3-124 this could be the next big thing in Ethernet only time will tell.  It looks to me like a Display Port connector.

At this stage with limited information I am guessing you can only purchase their pre terminated cables so onsite installs may be some time away however, we may need to watch this space to see if it really can replace the long standing RJ45 connector.
