Two New Connectors From Bel Stewart

This Week I am introducing not one but two new connectors from innovators Bel Stewart how have developed a new range of RJ45 connectors for Cat 6 & Cat 6A Cables.

For Larger OD Cables:

The new large OD plugs are the latest addition to Stewart Connector’s extensive portfolio of modular plugs designed to support Gigabit Ethernet (1000Base-T) and 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GBase-T) transfer rates, along with PoE (Power over Ethernet).

The CAT6a modular plugs notably accept solid conductor copper AWG23 to AWG24 cable and accommodate conductor sizes up to 0.062″ in diameter.

Due to the size, standard modular plugs cannot be terminated to this cable design. The UL Listed, RoHS-compliant modular plugs support terminations requiring horizontal cabling where link lengths exceed 10m (33ft) and extending from the telecommunications outlet in the work area to the horizontal cross-connect in the telecommunications room.

Stewart Connectors proprietary contact design and unique conductor load bar supports the same ability to terminate as in traditional RJ45 modular plugs.

This is great news for anyone that want to work with larger OD Cables specifically those deigned for harsh and industrial environments.   This has always been a difficult area and these connectors provide a great intermediary to expensive and large Mill Spec or Industrial Connectors.

For Small OD Cables:

Stewart Connector’s new small diameter RJ45 modular plugs support Gigabit Ethernet (1000Base-T) and 10Gigabit applications and meet the requirements of small diameter patch cables in data center environments.

The 8-position, 8-contact, UTP and FTP modular plugs terminate most 4-pair, AWG 28, 100 Ohm, stranded and solid unshielded/shielded twisted pair cable.

The small OD modular plugs accommodate a maximum cable diameter up to 0.210″ and overall insulated copper conductor diameters range of 0.025″ through 0.033″, depending on the plug and application.

Stewart Connector’s small diameter CAT6a and CAT6 plugs notably feature a proprietary contact design and wire alignment system to ensure proper cable-to-plug terminations and robust connections. In addition to Stewart’s proprietary contact design, a load bar is included to facilitate precise conductor placement and repeatable assembly during termination to ensure consistent long-lasting patch cord performance.  Anyone that has had to make Ethernet cables will know how much easier it is to make cables with connects that have load bars.

Depending on the application, boots are available to provide bend relief at the cable exit, protect the plug latch with snag- less tab, and give the finished cable assembly a streamlined appearance.
