If you have not heard of Juice Jacking before then put simply it is when you plug your devices such as mobile phone into the USB port of a computer for charging you are allowing that computer to see all of your data and potentially have your data copied.
Many of us are used to the idea of quickly plugging in to charge but probably don’t think too much about the possibility of having your data swiped, until now.
This problem is solved by a handy device (and I’m not making this up). Called The USB Condom. I know the name has other cogitations however, if you think about it the name is right as it’s genius is in it’s simplicity.
According to the manufacturer, “USB Condoms” prevent accidental data exchange when your device is plugged in to another device with a USB cable. USB Condoms achieve this by cutting off the data pins in the USB cable and allowing only the power pins to connect through. Thus, these “USB Condoms” prevent attacks like “juice jacking”.
Like many things in life it’s the simple things that can make a massive difference! Also once you see this you will say yeah that’s obvious but why did it take so long for someone to think of this!
