This week I am going to discuss the Molex Minifit Junior connector series. It is, quite literally, everywhere and you’ll find you know this connector series better than you think.
Molex Mini Fit Jr
This 4.2mm pitch connector comes in 2-24 way connectors with polarised locking systems, and are primarily designed to be used in White Goods, IT Telecoms (PCB Motherboard) & Industrial Automation. The crimps will accommodate 16-28 AWG cables.
One of the reasons this connector range has proven so popular, despite it’s relative large size in comparison with other connectors, is it’s simplicity. The connectors are very easy to use and work with, and the fact that the tooling is not that expensive adds to the desirability of the range.
The connector series has been duplicated by most other leading brands – with it’s universal mating system, the connectors can be mated with most competitors’ connectors.
Once you start looking for them you start to notice them everywhere, mainly due to their wide range of uses. For example, they are a great way to mix power and signal cables.
