2012 – a year of change!

As this is the last of our blogs for 2012, I thought I would give you a review of the year and highlight my personal view of the year.

Over the past 12 months we have seen  the introduction of many new products and innovations, as well as the updating of some existing products.

The trend for miniaturisation is continuing to grow. However,  we are still seeing many connectors experience robust demand and these include USB, D-Types, IDC & Circular Mill Spec connectors.

It seems that the old adage, ‘if it ain’t broke don’t fix it,’ still rings true! With that said, though, there have been a couple of notable developments this year including the 3M TwinAx and TE Connectivity’s Contactless connectors.  Both of these are important developments in terms of what is being achieved at the very limits of technology.

From a personal point of view, the last 12 months have been more about the search for stability. While many manufacturers have been focusing on new technological developments many have been spending time identifying where the future trends are taking us, and what they are trying to deliver to that market.

No one knows what the future will bring ; times are uncertain with world economies in turmoil. However, I believe the future is a positive one and that we can look forward to many more exciting developments.

We do live in an exciting world of endless possibilities, and I am looking forward to bringing some of these to you over the coming year.

Thank you very much for reading this Blog, it truly is a labour of love and I am grateful for all the positive feedback that I receive.  I wish you all the very best for 2013!

Happy Holidays!
